Depression

Today, one in five people are struggling with mental health challenges.  Before 2020, many of us were noticing an increase in teen depression and anxiety. Today, the number of high school students who say they feel persistent feelings of sadness and hopelessness rose from 26% to 44%. It is the highest level of sadness ever recorded. These numbers are a wake-up call because half of our kids are feeling hopeless, and so many are struggling.

Yet this is not how we are meant to live. Something has to change. There is a better way. There is hope! Starting in January, we will take an honest look at mental health in a series called Weeds In My Garden.

If you find yourself or a loved one in a season of depression check out these resources our team has collected including support groups, counseling, books, meditations and more. Don’t forget to bookmark this page – we’ll be adding new resources and tools each week to support you and your loved ones throughout this series.

Psalm 46:1 | NIV

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

We are designed to live in community with others, and we have a variety of support groups at Eastside Christian Church. These groups are here to help you with issues that are weighing you down or during a season of transition.
