Risk It | Dangerous Faith

DANGEROUS FAITH
  • Some people are afraid of spiders, snakes, dogs…even wooden spoons!  What is it that you are afraid of?

  • Share a story that had a high reward because you or someone you know decided to take a risk.

THROTTLE UP

Take a few minutes and discuss the monologue (written by Marianne Williamson) from the video clip.

Please read Hebrews 11:1-19.  These “by faith” passages are intended to reinforce and build our confidence.   What are some arguments people use to push back against faith?

In Hebrews 11:6, we are called to believe and “that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”   How does that passage resonate with your group?

What does Matthew 25:14-30 (“parable of the talents”) tell us about His expectation in terms of faith and risk?

In Vince’s message, he told the story of the trapeze artist and the unseen yet critical role of “the catcher”.  What does this mean to the group and in what ways could the group practically apply this message?

CHECK THE MIRRORS

“There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel secure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.” -Marianne Williamson

  • How does this boost your confidence and willingness to be bold in your faith?

  • Who comes to your mind when you think about others who seem to manifest that confidence?  How did they acquire it?

  • How can we pray for you this week?
