If The Shoe Fits Week 1 crocs
series overview
What do our shoes say about us? Whether it’s a pair of work-boots, crocs, flip-flops, loafers, vans, or soccer cleats – each scuff, detail, and well-worn sole provides a glimpse into who we are and where we’re going. We invite you to join us on this journey as we step into the shoes of those whose lives were touched by Jesus. Let their stories fill you with hope and inspire us all to live with courage and purpose.

Crocs
Sermon Summary
Mike Breaux’s sermon “Crocs” explores the stories of Martha, Mary, and Lazarus to emphasize the importance of spending time with Jesus amidst life’s Croc style busyness. Embracing a perspective of heavenly hope can transform priorities and offer peace in the midst of life’s challenges, even if you wear Crocs!

DISCUSSion
Select 3-4 questions from the list below to guide your discussion time.
- Read Luke 10:38-42.. Martha represents busy “Croc” wearing people in this “If the Shoe Fits” message series. Can the group list at least three things that can make a well-meaning busy person miss out on what they truly need from Jesus?
- Taking it a step further, Mike made a profound statement when he said: “Whatever has your FOCUS has your ATTENTION… whatever has your ATTENTION has your DEVOTION… and whatever has your DEVOTION has YOU. What current focuses do you have in your life? Do any of them “have” you? Is there one simple choice you could make this week to make sure that Jesus is yours and not what you might otherwise focus on?
- Read John 11:3-7. What insights do you gain for the times we ask God for something in a critical moment and his answer is “no” or “wait”?
- Read John 11:32-39. There is much emotion in this passage. Twice it says that Jesus was deeply angry and it even says Jesus began to cry. What do you think made Jesus angry here? What made him weep? Do these same things move your heart to anger or tears? If so, why?
- Read John 11:25-26 and 40-44. If you would have been there, would you have been…
- Shocked?
- Awed?
- Afraid?
- Incredulous?
- Overjoyed?
- Other?
Since you were not there, as a reader, how does it make you feel to know that this happened?
