Find A Way To Serve
From High School Student
to Small Group Leader
Read one Eastsider’s story about her experience as a High School Small Group Leader.
“During this last year of camp with my senior girls, the Lord had me reflecting on where it all started, how far we’ve come, how faithful He’s been, and how much He’s blessed us.
These pictures embody what Jesus’ love looks like – joy, peace, worship, community, and deep love for one another.”
“It all started when I was a sophomore in high school and accepted a challenge card at a Christian camp. The card said to find a way to serve in my church. So, I did – started serving with this group of girls when they were in the second grade.”

“Now, 9 years later, the girl who had no direction and barely knew who she was in Christ wouldn’t even recognize who God has shaped me into today. It’s wild to think that all along, He knew exactly where I’d be and what He was preparing me for.
Being a High School Small Group Leader has been one of the biggest blessings of my life. I’ve watched God be so faithful and grow these girls year after year – but it wasn’t until this last camp that I realized just how much they’ve shaped me, too.”
If I could encourage anyone reading this, it would be this: serve your community, especially the next generation. You never know how much God will use your “yes” to not only grow others, but to grow you. He’s so kind like that. He wants to bless us as we walk in obedience.
Focusing on helping these girls through life’s ups and downs has been one of the main ways the Lord has molded me into the woman He created me to be. When we take our eyes off our own brokenness and focus on His kingdom work, He helps us as we walk in faith.
So thank you, Lord, for the richness that comes with following you. Your plans are always better than mine. Thank you for trusting me with these girls and for how faithful you’ve been to them. I can’t wait to see how you continue to use them for your glory.”
