LA Fires
While no one community can help every person affected by a tragedy like the LA Fires, we evaluated the resources we have available as a church and strategically partnered the best ways we could. We’re focusing our compassion efforts in Alta Dena by partnering with Victory Bible Church, located just one block from the Eaton Fire zone. Take a look at this video to learn how we’ve been able to help so far.
Because of the continuous generosity of Eastsiders, we responded rapidly with a significant contribution to meet the needs of Victory Bible Church and the community of Pasadena.
- These funds will be used to provide gift cards for groceries, clothing, and other personal items, as well as hotel vouchers for families who have been displaced and are seeking the next steps.
- Over 60 volunteers have been mobilized to serve in Pasadena to date
- Eastsiders assembled 200 home cleaning buckets for impacted homes.
- Eastsiders have generously donated additional gift cards for families impacted.
- Eastsiders have fulfilled 130 personalized wish lists for families that have lost everything.
- We’ve helped Jackson Elementary (the only school still functioning in Alta Dena post-fires). In addition to having many families in crisis due to fires, the school has also taken on extra students. JHM and Kidside students assembled Valentines for all 600+ students, and HSM is creating gifts to encourage staff. On top of this, because of Eastside’s generosity, we’ve been able to provide lunch for the teachers and provided books to help process the trauma from the fire, a stuffy to each student, and more!
