Be Do Week 1

SERIES TITLE

Be / Do

SERIES OVERVIEW

One of the most frequently asked questions posed by followers of Jesus is, “What does God want me to do?” Should I go here or there? Should I say yes or no? But what if there is a better question? God is more interested in our character than the decisions we make. For three weeks let’s ask the question, “Who does God want me to be?”

Sermon Summary

This week we delve into the  importance of character and how it influences our actions. The focus is on cultivating a strong character rather than fixating solely on behavior modification. The sermon encourages aligning our character with God’s character, emphasizing that God is more concerned with who we are becoming rather than the decisions we make. The goal is to reflect God’s holiness to the world and embrace the daily moments of spiritual growth on the lifelong journey of becoming more like Jesus.

wrap up | prayer
  • Ask for prayer requests from the group.

  • Pray for God’s help to reflect on our inner character as we look in the “mirror” each day, asking Him to reveal areas that need change and growth.

  • Pray for the ability to align our character with God’s character and to make decisions that align with His will.

  • Pray for a deeper understanding of what it means to be holy, asking God to help us embrace the small, daily moments of spiritual growth.

  • Pray for the courage to pray the three prayers shared in the sermon: “God, search me,” “God, stretch me,” “God, lead me.” Ask for God’s guidance in cultivating holiness and character.
