A legacy of serving
stories that built this church
It all started with a tall woman stepping out of an old, raggedy Volkswagen.
He was standing outside the church when he first saw her—long legs climbing out of that little car—and something made him take notice. That moment was the beginning of a relationship that would change the course of his life. They got married in 1976.
Soon after, began looking for a church. Flipping through the Fullerton Tribune, a small article caught his eye. Nothing flashy—just a line that read:
“Eastside Christian Church: A busy church, always serving.”
That simple description was enough. They visited Eastside, and from that first visit, they were in. It just felt right.
Eastside became more than a church they attended. It became home.
His journey of serving began with driving vans on mission trips to Mexico. Over the years, he found himself saying yes to whatever was needed—whether that was supporting global teams, helping out behind the scenes, or picking up a piece of trash someone else dropped. For him, it wasn’t about the role—it was about the heart behind it.

“If I see something that needs to be done, I’ll do it,” he says. “That’s just who I am.”
Now, decades later, he’s still showing up. Still saying yes. Still making Eastside feel like home for the next person who walks through the doors — just like someone did for him all those years ago.
“Eastside is home to me. I probably spend as much time here as I do at my own house,” he laughs. “What is Jesus teaching me? That I’m supposed to serve.”
Eastside isn’t just a place to attend church. It’s a place to belong, to grow, to serve, and to find purpose.
Whether you’ve been here for decades or you’re walking in for the first time, there’s a place for you here, and something meaningful for you to be part of.
