For the past year our staff and leadership teams at Eastside have been praying, "God, what do you want Eastside's ministry to look like by the end of the year 2012?" The more we prayed the greater we sensed God's vision for us is not to create something new, but to recapture something old ... to recapture the inside/out dynamic of the church we read about in the pages of scripture where they pursued God, built community and unleashed compassion ... transforming the world one neighborhood at a time.
Hebrews 13:13-16 (Msg) says, "So let's go outside, where Jesus is, where the action is - not trying to be privileged insiders ... This 'insider world' is not our home ... Let's take our place outside with Jesus ... Share what you have with others. God takes particular pleasure in acts of worship - a different kind of 'sacrifice' - that takes place in kitchen and workplace and on the streets."
